Gloucester Tall Ships Festival

Highlights

The month of May brings one of Gloucester’s most iconic festivals to the city.

Gloucester Tall Ships Festival (25-27 May) is a truly unique celebration of ships paired with music, food and entertainment. Here’s what you can expect from the weekend…

Meet the Fleet

Some of the biggest and most eye-catching ships are headed to the Gloucester docks and will be showcased for visitors to explore. The 112-foot Phoenix has appeared in films such as Ridley Scott’s ‘Napoleon’ and ‘In The Heart of the Sea’, and has a whopping eight sails, whilst the 118-year old Irene has appeared in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’.

Music

From sea shanties to folk-rock to hip hop, the Crane Stage on the dockside will play host to a whole range of artists. The event is headlined by folk singer Nathan Evans (remember the TikTok shanty ‘Wellerman’?), and features The Roving Crows, Dan Cooper, The Cash Cows and The Old Time Sailors amongst others.

Entertainment

There’s plenty to enjoy alongside the tall ships, like juggling pirates, acro sailors and comedy performers. Suitable for all ages and bound to make you laugh, these acts will be performing throughout the whole festival weekend.

Food & Drink

Aptly named The Smuggler’s Market, there will be food and drink stalls onsite at the docks keeping crowds well-fed and watered. There’s also heaps of bars and restaurants at the quays, so there’ll be more than enough choice no matter what takes your fancy.
