Getting it Right Legally Training

26 November 2015

Getting it Right Legally has been a very popular publication and since it was first updated in 2011 so has the training to accompany the publication.  From this interest we have developed short bespoke seminars and workshops to support the publication offering this to small community and playwork groups at conferences and events. Since it's update in 2013  to include the new CIO status we have been approached by a number of individuals and different organisations to run some training for staff and volunteers on the legal structures suitable for their needs.

It was felt that a Playwork Partnerships Short Course would be a good addition to the bespoke training we already offer and will provide an opportunity for other individuals interested in this area to attend.

Are you Getting it Right Legally?

If you are supporting people who are thinking about improving the legal status and structure of the organisation, or are a Trustee yourself, then the revised Getting it Right Legally 1 & 2 are essential support documents for you. They provide advice in plain English on legal matters for community organisations and we can now offer a 1 day training course to support you in doing this.

The Aim of this course is to:

To equip participants with the basic skills, knowledge and tools to establish a community organisation (led by a social purpose) with the right legal structure for future sustainability.

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an improved understanding and awareness of the options available to establish a community organisation on a sound legal basis
  • Explain the roles and responsibilities of board members
  • Describe how to use the Getting it Right Legally publication as a community business tool
  • Create a directory of national and local support and guidance

Delivered by Charlotte Pace who is an experienced trainer/facilitator - specifically in the field of Childcare and
Playwork. She was key in identifying the need for the publications "Getting it Right Legally" (GIRL) and was part of the writing team. Charlotte has co-delivered a wide range of 'GIRL' events with Bates Wells & Braithwaite (the lead charity law firm) and has also worked with a number of local authorities in supporting the
voluntary sector specifically with understanding their roles and responsibilities and identifying suitable legal structures.
