Aims and Objectives of Wild About Play

Overall aim:

To support, develop and promote environmental play in the South West.

Specific objectives:

  • To create a South West network of organisations and individuals involved and/or interested in environmental play for children, incorporating both playwork and environmental organisations.
  • To research and document examples of successful environmental playwork, and assemble principles of best practice.
  • To identify training needs for playworkers, and others, to develop knowledge and skills to enhance their provision of environmental play for children in and around their settings.
  • To produce targeted information and resources to support environmental playwork, and disseminate good practice through training seminars, publications and websites to meet their training needs.
  • To liase with a range of key national and regional environmental organisations who work with children in the outdoors to share ideas, knowledge and practice on how to jointly develop environmental playwork in the South West.
